Alessandro Scarlatti. Das kompositorische Schaffen

GERMAN TEXT ONLY

Alessandro Scarlatti's (1660-1725) compositions cover all the genres popular at the time.  The Sicilian-born composer was mainly active in Rome and Naples, and with great success.  However, his music was also appreciated in other places in Italy, so that Scarlatti's diverse and widespread oeuvre had a formative influence on the musical culture of his country.

This volume presents Scarlatti's oeuvre using a variety of methodological approaches.  The focus is not only on "internal musical" factors, but also takes into account the commissioning and compositional situations as well as the diverse contacts Scarlatti cultivated with cultural figures.  In this way, a comprehensive panorama of his tradition-orientated, sometimes innovative and pioneering compositional output unfolds.
