Bicinias or two-part songs are a specific form of music from the 16th century. They were particularly popular as teaching material for Latin students. The present "Bicinia Orlandi" are taken from Maternus Beringers vocal treatise of 1610, which however unlike most of the vocal treatises of the time, was not intended for professional students, but rather "to please all amateurs of this art". These charming movements will also please amateurs today, particularly since corresponding to the practice of the time, they are suitable for performance on a wide variety of instruments.
