Boccherini Concerto for Flute and Small String Orchestra in D major Op.27 (Full Score, paperback)

Ridolfo Luigi Boccherini was an Italian composer and cellist of the Classical era whose music retained a courtly and galante style even while he matured somewhat apart from the major classical musical centres.

Boccherini's style is characterized by Rococo charm, lightness, and optimism, and exhibits much melodic and rhythmic invention, coupled with frequent influences from the guitar tradition of his adopted country, Spain.

This concerto, which was published and distributed c.1780 in Paris under Boccherini's name, was subsequently discovered by musicologists to be by the Bohemian court musician Franz Xaver Pokorny (1729-1794).

As the work first appeared as Boccherini's, and has enjoyed popularity as such, this edition also appears under his name in order to avoid confusion.
