Haydn Concerto for Piano in C major (Hob.XVIII:5) (Score & Parts)

Between 1756 and 1780 Haydn composed thirteen keyboard concerti, sometimes called Divertimenti.  Haydn as composer of piano concertos is no innovator as in his quartets or symphonies.  In these works (the concertos), which all belong to his earlier creative period, he is rather conservative.  No great virtuoso display works, they exhibit rather a somewhat naive sincerity which does not require a technical bravura.  Falling between concerto and chamber music in style and content, the present work does not belong to the great classical concertos; it does not go beyond the borders of playful emotion which distinguish the works of the Viennese pre-classical period.
