Martinu Concerto for Two Violins in D major H 329 (Study Score)

Written in 1950 during Martinu’s time in New York, the Concerto for Two Violins and Orchestra is scored for large symphonic forces in the Romantic concerto tradition unlike his earlier Duo concertante.
Despite the successful premiere and several later performances during 1950 Martinu struggled to find a publisher until Bärenreiter took the work in 1959 although publication was delayed until 1962 three years after Martinu’s death.
