Feld Concerto for Violin & Ochestra (Violin & Piano)

Jindrich Feld (1925-2007) was a Czech composer and academic.  Born into a musical family, his father was a renowned professor of violin at the Prague Consenatory, his mother was violinist, so there were innumerable opportunities to hear music performed during his childhood.  He studied violin and viola with his father, enjoyed playing chamber music, but his life-long interest was in musical composition.  His formal training in composition was at the Prague Conservatory and at the Academy of Music, where he graduated in 1952.  In the same year he earned the Ph.D. from the Charles University in Prague in musicology, aesthetics and philosophy.

Between 1972 and 1986 he taught composition at the Prague Conservatory, as well as accepting teaching opportunities in Australia, the USA, several European countries and Japan.  From 1990 to 1992 he was head of the Music Department of Czech Radio.
