Franz Xaver Richter (1709-1739), born in what is now the Czech Republic, was a singer, violinist, composer and conductor.  He spent his life in Austria and later Mannheim where he became one of the foremost of the first generation of Mannheim composers and later  Strasbourg where he was Kapellmeister at the cathedral.

His works consist largely of symphonies and concertos for woodwind, trumpet and church music.
