The experienced cantor Telemann had experienced the troubles of singing lessons as a much-troubled schoolmaster.  In the "Schulmeister-Kantate" he describes a singing lesson with sparkling humour and irony given to his slow-witted boys by a hypochondriac, grumbling, though fundamentally warm-hearted schoolteacher who zealously pursues his art.
