J S Bach Goldberg Variations (BWV 988) (Piano)
Fourth Part of the Clavier Übung

The so-called Goldberg Variations constitute the significant conclusion of Bach’s four-part Clavierübung.

The present edition offers the text of the New Bach Edition. This revised text, for which the original print as the primary source prevails, results from a systematic collation of all available sources and, for the first time, takes into account Bach’s personal copy of the original print, which contains important corrections and additions.

Bach's "Goldberg-Variations"pose a serious challenge to any harpsichordist or pianist.  Bach intended them to be played on a double manual harpsichord, which presents a problem for interpretations on the pianoforte.  This critical performing edition is based on the Urtext of the New Bach Edition and divides the parts between the hands analogue to Bach's own printed edition of the famous cycle.
