Scheidt Ich hebe meine Augen auf zu den Bergen (Full Score, paperback)

Samuel Scheidt (1587 – 1654) was a German composer, organist and teacher of the early Baroque era.  Born in Halle where he initially studied, he went to Amsterdam to study with  Sweelinck who clearly influenced Scheidt’s style.  Returning to Halle he became court organist, and later Kapellmeister, to the Margrave of Brandenburg.

Scheidt left compositions in two main categories: instrumental music, including a large amount of keyboard music, mostly for organ, and sacred vocal music.
