Jauchzet dem Herrn, alle Welt SWV deest for Brass (Playing Score)
Schütz, Heinrich
Schütz Jauchzet dem Herrn, alle Welt SWV deest for Brass (Playing Score)
The frequent setting of Psalm 100 was also included by Schütz as a double-choir composition in his “Psalms of David” from 1619. This version for three choruses was perhaps premiered on the first anniversary of the Reformation in the Hofkirche in Dresden in 1617. The use of the double echo chorus - which Schütz undoubtedly does not mean simply as a sound effect, but as an image for the echo of divine speech throughout "the whole world" – is extremely effective in this arrangement for choir with brass instruments. The "Ehre sei dem Vater" contained in the version of 1619 is included as a supplement for three choruses in this edition.
