Schütz Jauchzet dem Herrn, alle Welt SWV deest Psalm 100 (Score)

The frequent setting of Psalm 100 was also included by Schütz as a double-choir composition in his “Psalms of David” from 1619.  This earlier version for three choruses was perhaps premiered on the first anniversary of the Reformation in the Hofkirche in Dresden in 1617.   The use of the double echo chorus - which Schütz undoubtedly does not mean simply as a sound effect, but as an image for the echo of divine speech throughout "the whole world" – is extremely effective.

- For three four-part choruses and basso continuo
