Hradecky Jazz Winds (Score & Parts)
for Flute, Trumpet and Trombone with piano accompaniment
Emil Hradecký (b.1953) is one of the major Czech composers often inspired in his work by dance music and jazz. Since graduating from the Prague Conservatory of Music, he has been intensively engaged in teaching, a large part of which he combines with his composition work. Hradecký has written a whole number of various methodical teaching aids, textbooks and instructive compositions for children, which are typical of their fresh melody and distinctive rhythm.
He makes use of popular jazz dance rhythms in five of his pieces included in the album Jazz Winds. The solo here may be performed not only by the flute, trumpet and trombone, but also by the clarinet, saxophone, oboe, bassoon, violin or violoncello.
Thanks to their universality, accessibility and reasonable rate of difficulty, these compositions will certainly be well applied in practice.
