Michael Haydn (1737-1806) followed the path of his older brother, Joseph, to Vienna to bceome a chorister at St Stephen's Cathedral.  Following his studies, and after several years of making a precarious living in Vienna, in 1762 he was appointed court musician and concertmaster in Salzburg where he remained for the rest of his life.  He left a large body of compositions of both church music and instrumental works.
