A Vranicky Marches For Wind Instruments (Score & Parts)
Antonín Vranický (1761-1820) was a well-known Czech violinist and half-brother of composer Pavel Vranický (1756-1808). He was initially educated in his hometown of Nová Ríše in the Premonstratensian monastery and then studied philosophy in Olomouc followed by law and music in Brno. Encouraged by his brother he travelled to Vienna where he took lessons from Mozart, Haydn and Albrechtsberger and in 1807 became director of the Vienna Court Orchestra.
He composed mainly orchestral and chamber music and his ability as a virtuoso violinist is reflected in his works which are considered challenging even today.
