Eberhard Wenzel (1896-1982) born in Poland, was a church musician and composer.  Born the son of a priest his works are based on the concern to express adoration, preaching and the highest praise of God, combining art and worship.

In 1907 the family moved to Berlin where he studied music later taking up a post as a school and church musician.  He held several posts, notable from 1930-1950 he worked as a church musician at the Peterskirche in Görlitz and in 1951 became director of the local Protestant Church Music School in Halle where many of his compositions were premiered.

He left some 800 works across a wide variety of genres which are essentially focused on church music and have practical worship as their aim.
