Tchaikovsky Nutcracker Suite for three Clarinets (Playing Score)

Tchaikovsky's ballet scenes from E. T. A. Hoffmann's novella Nutcracker and Mouse King were composed in 1891-2 and received their première performance during the 1892 Christmas season.  Tchaikovsky fashioned his world-famous suite by taking the most beautiful melodies from his ballet score.  Carefully shortened and arranged for three clarinets of identical tuning (B-flat or A), these dance movements are waiting to transport players and listeners alike into a world of fairy tale.

The series “a tre” contains easy pieces for three identical instruments.  It is designed for players with little experience on their instrument but who take much pleasure in music-making.

This is enhanced by the fact that the parts are equivalent in importance.  This series forms an ideal supplement to the currently standard tutors, whether in individual or group instruction or just for fun.
