Dvorak Piano Trio No.2 in G minor Op.26 (Score and Parts)
for Piano, Violin, Violoncello
Dvořák wrote a total of four works for piano trio. The second Piano Trio in G minor Op.26 (1876) represents a conception of the form typical of the composer. At the same time, it documents the transition from his experimental phase to the emergence of his characteristic style which partly involved the return to definite form and thematic clarity.
The current edition draws from the musical text published in 1958. That edition was part of the Complete Edition of the Works of Antonín Dvorák. As their main source, the editors chose the first print (Bote & Bock, 1879). This new issue contains only minor amendments in the notation and aims to fulfil the needs of current-day performance practice.
The cello parts have previously been published in older editions in the treble clef requiring them to be played an octave down. In these new editions the parts are written in bass and tenor clefs which makes them easier to read by the cellist.
