Devienne Six Duets for Two Flutes Op.75/2

François Devienne (1759-1803) began his early musical training with family members and as a choirboy in Joinville where he was born.  From 1779 he settled in Paris joining various Parisian orchestras playing the flute, oboe and bassoon - including at the Paris Opera - as well as composing.  He became a professor of flute and administrator at what was later to become the Paris Conservatoire in 1795.

He left some 300 works, including operas, symphonies, concertos for wind instruments, as well as dozens of sonatas and duets.  During his day he was known as the Mozart of the Flute.
