Six Partitas for two Oboes and Bassoon (Score & Parts)
Dusek, Frantisek Xaver
F X Dusek Six Partitas for two Oboes and Bassoon (Score & Parts)
Partitas for wind instruments hold a significant place in the works of Frantisek Xaver Dusek (1731–1799), the Czech composer, teacher and virtuoso pianist. The pieces were probably composed for performance at the occasional musical soirées in Bertramka, where Dusek frequently hosted W. A. Mozart, among others. Even today the miniature partitas for two oboes and bassoon captivate the ear.
The current edition (revised by Miloslav Klement) draws from Dusek’s manuscripts archived in the music department of the National Museum in Prague. The publication is part of the old Musica Viva Historica series.
