In his extensive chamber music oeuvre, Joseph Bodin de Boismortier (1689 1755) also created dynamic and intellectually stimulating works for the cellist.  Each movement of this sonata is a challenge to the performer.  Just like the sonatas of Boismortier's Dutch contemporary Willem de Fesch, this work is a must in every cellist's repertoire.
