F X Dusek Sonata in G major for Piano
František Xaver Dusek (1731 – 1799) was a Czech composer and one of the most important harpsichordists and pianists of the period.
He initially studied music in Prague but completed his studies in Vienna where he was also a member of several orchestras. In 1770 he returned to Prague and devoted himself to teaching (he taught Mozart's son Karl Thomas, who became a gifted pianist, although he did not pursue a career in music) and founded the first piano school in the city. As well as aristocrats his students included professional musicians including Leopold Kozeluh.
His compositions are elegant in style and display a Mozart-like quality satisfying both musicians and listeners.
