Recorder players have sought in vain for original pieces for their instrument among the abundant chamber music works of Joseph Bodin de Boismortier (1689-1755).  To remedy this situation, this sonata was transposed to a range suitable for the treble recorder, in accordance with early performance practice.  It is a piece which enriches the recorder repertoire in a technically and musically gratifying manner and creates a link with the classical flute repertoire.
