Loeillet (de Gant) Sonatas for Recorder (Flute, Violin, Oboe) & Basso continuo III Op.3/12, Op.4/11-12

Jean Baptiste Loeillet (1688 – c.1720) was a Belgian composer born in Ghent who wrote many works for recorder.  He was a member of the large and musical Loeillet family and styled himself Loeillet de Gant to avoid confusion with his cousin, Jean-Baptiste Loeillet of London (1680 – 1730), who was a well-known musician and composer in London.

Three further Sonatas are presented here from Op.III and IV (now identified as part III) of the 48 Sonatas for flute and thorough-bass (Op.I–IV).  The edition of Walsh/London now in the possession of the Library at Hamburg served as the source.
