Bohuslav Martinu (1890-1959) wrote two books of songs with piano accompaniment on Moravian folk texts (H 5094 and H 5095) during the Second World War. The familiarity of home, to which Bohuslav Martinů thousands of miles away in American exile, always turns to, comes alive here. The songs are technically accessible to all amateur singers and have become part of the repertoire of concert singers because of their beauty and charm.
