The source situation that surrounds K.95 also pertains to the Symphony in D major K.97. Alfred Einstein (the late eminent German-American musicologist and critic) relates these works to the passage in Mozart's letter from Rome dated 25 April 1770 “When I have finished this letter I shall finish a symphony I started.  The aria is finished. Another symphony is with the copyist (the said copyist is my father)”.  There is no evidence for this assumption.
