Mozart Symphony No.18 in F major (K.130) (Full Score)
According to the dates in the autograph scores, the symphonies in C major (K.128), G major (K.129), and F major (K.130) were all completed in May 1772. K.130 stands out by virtue of being in F major, a key seldom encountered in Mozart’s symphonies. Here, for the first time, the oboes have been replaced by flutes from the very outset. In the course of writing out the manuscript (from the Minuet) Mozart began to employ a second pair of horns. He then retroactively added the additional horn parts to the first and second movements. This was the first time that he had scored a work for four horns, and it was to remain a rarity in his oeuvre.
