Moeschinger Toccata No.2 Op.30b for Piano

Albert Moeschinger (1897-1985)

Born in Basel, Swiss composer Moeschinger studied in Bern, Leipzig and Munich, then taught piano and theory at the Berne Conservatory.  In 1943 after suffering health problems he devoted himself entirely to composition.  He left a considerable number of compositions (more than 200 in total) in all genres except opera.  His works combine German and French elements and can be said to be rooted in the chromaticism of Reger as well as inhabiting Debussy’s soundscape.
