Böhm Trois Duos de Mendelssohn et Lachner Op.33 (Two Flutes and Piano)

Theobald Böhm (1794-1881), who was equally famous in his day as a concert flutist and as the builder of the flute which is named after him, made his instrument known by playing it himself.  He performed not only works from his own pen, but also arrangements of pieces by other composers which were very popular in the 19th century.

The three duets in this book – Böhm’s sources are vocal duets by Felix Mendelssohn and Franz Lachner - show how musicians gave their personal stamp to well-known works in their arrangements.  These melodious and charming pieces of moderate technical demands are still delightful and rewarding to play today.
