Rosier Two Trio Sonatas for two Treble Recorders (Violins or other instruments) and Basso continuo
Sonatas in D minor and C minor
Carl Rosier was born in Liège in December 1640 and died in Cologne in December 1725. He began his musical career in the service of the elector of Cologne as a member of the court orchestra in Bonn. ln 7667 he is listed in the statement of salaries as a violinist. After 1673, when the court orchestra was dissolved, he attracted attention on several occasions with his compositions and his virtuoso playing of the violin, especially in the Netherlands. In the years following his tenure in Bonn, Rosier had, at least for a time a permanent home and position in Cologne. Ln 1699 he was chosen Kapellmeister of the Cathedral and two years later Ratskapellmeister as well.
Rosier composed both sacred and secular works, quite a number of which were printed during his lifetime in Cologne, Amsterdam and Augsburg. Presented here for the first time in a new print are the Trio Sonatas Nos. 2 and 4 of the 12 sonatas from Pièces choisies à la manière italienne of 1691.
