Vítězslav Novák - Thematic and Bibliographical Catalogue (Hardback)
522 pages; format 23,8 x 16,3 cm

This extensive publication is based on the original typescript, which was prepared in 1971-1973 by Miloš Schnierer in cooperation with Vladimír Lébl.  The revised and updated version presents a complete chronological inventory of the work of Vítězslav Novák, a prominent composer of 20th century Czech music, with 162 compositions.

The individual headings of the thematic catalogue are listed by catalogue number and include information about the title of the composition from Novák's autograph, opus number, duration, instrument scoring and musical example in the form of an incipit of the main opening theme and others.

There follows a detailed bibliographic list of sources and several indexes: chronological, alphabetical (including the names of parts of cycles), systematic, index of authors (including references to folk literature) and an index of dedications.  The catalogue concludes with a biographical outline, creative development and a timeline of Novak’s life and works.
