These 6 Little Suites have been drawn from a collection of easily playable pieces published in 1730 as Op.27 by Boismortier (1689 - 1755).  They are mainly in the keys of C major and B-flat major making them especially appropriate for the recorder.

Although relatively straight-forward the suites are nevertheless of a high artistic quality and appeared during a particularly productive time for the composer when he was at the height of his popularity.

The musical text of the original edition has been reproduced here without any alteration and there are hints from the editor, Erich Doflein, about how to interpret the ornament symbols.
